With Awareness Through Movement you can grow longer, stronger and more adaptative by exploring the many directions that a healthy spine can move. Having your full height, lightness and strength can’t be achieved by stretching, straining or maintaining yourself in a static posture; these strategies merely engage us in a battle against our habitual muscular contractions.
When working optimally, our postural system allows us to adapt constantly to forces both external and internal in order for effort to be efficiently and uniformly distributed throughout our entire self. In this one-day workshop, we will experiment with movements that will reduce the habits that shorten us and disturb our capability to spontaneously coordinate actions with the fullness of our skeletal strength and support.
