Due to the constant, ever-present pull of gravity, life itself shortens our body. Even over the course of a day: we are slightly shorter when we go to bed at night than when we woke up. Over time, this natural process makes us vulnerable to wear and tear, compression and shortening of our spine. The Feldenkrais Method is uniquely capable of reversing this pattern by lengthening our spine, and reducing the compression of our joints. After doing an Awareness Through Movement lesson we feel lighter, taller and looser because the compressive force of gravity has been reduced.
