An Advanced Training for Feldenkrais® Practitioners
with Elizabeth Beringer and David Zemach-Bersin
Join two of our most senior Feldenkrais Trainers, Elizabeth Beringer and David Zemach-Bersin, for a unique workshop supporting the development of high-level Functional Integration® skills.
In Functional Integration, Dr. Feldenkrais was a master in the art of joining with another person to create new function and effortless movement. While teaching Functional Integration, Feldenkrais would often say; “I am joining myself to the person, I am joining my nervous system and theirs”. David and Elizabeth have designed a workshop to help you refine your FI skills by integrating two essential subjects: joining and compression.
Our skeletal structure is designed to counter the constant downward force of gravity, and it’s incessant pull toward the center of the earth. Dr. Feldenkrais understood that with a well-organized skeletal structure, we can nullify the effect of gravity, thereby creating a feeling of freedom and lightness in action; a state of almost zero gravity. In effective Functional Integration, compression is one of the essential resources we have for optimizing our student’s relationship to their skeleton, bringing them to a higher level of organization. With a firm biological understanding and the use of precise and sensitive compressive force, we can actually replicate gravity in Functional Integration. In this workshop you will learn how to use yourself to simulate gravity, so that you can perturb your student’s nervous system to bring their skeleton into active alignment with the gravitational field.
Throughout this workshop, we will explore the ways in which true Functional Integration emerges through the joining of two nervous systems. David and Elizabeth have taught together for over 30 years, and look forward to explicating the ways in which you can use your self and your senses to join effectively with another. This advanced training will help you to gain a unique combination of skills, enabling you to create an unusual “lightness of being” in others.

“My mentoring with David was revelatory. In a few minutes, David identified and made clear what is the most pertinent aspect of my work that needs improvement, and how to achieve it. There is no substitute for this kind of mentoring! I recommend it to anyone who has a vision and a desire to achieve really outstanding Functional Integration.”
